I had a 2015 F-150 that ford re purchased after the sunroof was repaired 5 times, and spent almost 90 days at the dealership. My 2016 F-150 started showing signs of similar issues with the sun roof, so I just traded it fora 19' F-250 without a sunroof. The trick as others have mentioned is to tilt the sunroof up before opening it.
