Hello all, a little background on the motor issue, last year I noticed it would idle "okayish" but once I gave it throttle it would act like it was only running on one side. I had no top end power and could not get on plane. I took it home and started researching the problems.

Mercury sold the XR2 (2L) from around 1986-1987; the XR4 (2.4L) from around 1988 to 1991; and the XR6 (2.5L) from around 1992 to 2005. If it's a standard 4 3/4 inch LU then the pitches would odd, and I think 25 is the steepest. Seloc says for a 2.4 200 it will increase timing 6 degrees @5600 rpm and retard timing by 6 when rpm falls below 5400...
