ASA does not have that option. The only way to have no tether is to use a dedicated server on a PC. The ram requirements to have a fully active map are too great for any console. If you've got a spare PC with a decent amount of ram (8-16GB) you can run your own for 2 people, no problem.

To up the distance you are expecting your console or PC to be running a full server and the game. You need a really decent PC to be able to do that so you could run a full dedicated. Just double checked on old ark you have to click in the box instead of using the slider, then instead of cranking it from 1.0 to 3.0 you can type any value like 100.0. It will allow him to host the game on his pc, then you two can join that session. There will be no tether distance.
