There is History, The Manufacturers, Serial number ranges, Parts Breakdowns which help understand different characteristics of parts from/for the different manufacturers. I have been looking for parkerized M1 15 rounds magazines for my collection. What I have seen so far is cleaned up magazines with traces of corrosion, then parkerized. In no way attractive. I have been told the parkerized magazines were intented for troops in South East Asia. They should resist the humid climate better when parkerized.I did some looking and it seems the case and the M8 cleaning rod are not inclusive to the M1 carbine. Here is a 1944 marked case I have.
